Day2

DAY 2: We started around 11 AM this day and had some miles to go down the Snake. This was a fairly flat portion of the trip and the only thing we really had to deal with was the lingering exhaustion from the day before and the terrible heat (~109 in the shade). We made it a couple miles down the trail and around noon reached an oasis where one of the larger creeks met up with the Snake and some pools were formed, and it was all shaded by nice leafy trees. We stopped here for ~5 hours during the mid-day heat and took the vast majority of the pictures for the day in that spot. After a few hours a bat came to one of the pools and flew back and forth picking up bugs off the water and resting on a nearby tree. There was also a huge dragonfly and lots of spiders. As 5 PM approached we decided to take off and hiked til near-dark ending up in a clearing where a locked Fish and Wildlife cabin stood. Along the way we found the remains of some elk while passing through an eerie area of the trail surrounded by large boulders that seemed ideal for mountain lions.
