DAY 4: Today was spent resting and exploring the cabin while the remainder of the storm moved down the valley. We set up our tent in the cabin the night before, as we were more worried about being struck by lightning and getting all of our stuff wet than we were of Hanta virus. In the cabin we encountered a little Bull snake the night before, and were awakened by little birds pecking on the side of the house. Jos lit up the old fireplace the night before in the hopes of getting some of our stuff dry, but mostly it just made the cabin really hot. Once the storm passed we spent the day reading about edible plants and then gathered up a bunch of them and had lunch. We had nettles, salsify buds and corn (the corn was found in the cabin), and tuna and thistle sandwiches. It was all delicious. Nothing much happened all day.
